Welcome to A Healthy State

Welcome to a Healthy State!

Ever since I've changed my habits from bad to good, I have been motivated to help people learn how to be healthy. Don't gt me wrong though, I still have some vices, but moderation is key! This is the reason for my Blog. It makes me happy to be able to share all of the great info I've found in my own quest to be healthy, like nutrition facts, exercise tips, links to great articles, and a link to an ingenious (and free!) website that makes it effortless to plan delicious, 'good for you' meals. (I know it sounds like an oxymoron, but healthy food CAN taste good!)

It would excite me even more to know that I played a part in leading you to YOUR healthy state.

One of my favorite quotes...

Eat Seasonable

I like to buy fruits and vegetables that are in season, when there's a much better chance that they are fresh from a local farm as opposed to having traveled accross the country, or even further! The quicker you can eat them after being picked, the more flavorful and nutritious they are.

So buy 'em up when they're fresh, and take a look at my 'Helpful How To' page for a great link on how to keep 'em fresh.

Here's what's in season now:

Beets
Broccoli
Cabbage
Carrots
Cauliflower
Celery
Greens (Arugula, Collards, Kale, Lettuce, Spinach, Swiss Chard)
Cucumber
Eggplant
Garlic
Gourds
Beans
Onions
Peppers
Leeks
Peas
Potatoes
Pumpkins
Summer Squash
Sweet Corn
Tomatoes
Turnips
Winter Squash
Zucchini
Apples
Pears
Plums
Melons
